Photo Idea Week 6 lighting

source
photographer: unknown

I think this photograph has really good lighting. Between the light coming from the moon and the light on the statue, it brings the whole photograph together. If it weren't for the play of lighting in this photograph, it wouldn't be as great as a photo.

Writing Assignment week 5

What things interest you about the subject you photographed?

I like my photograph with the crab legs. I think it creates an interesting composition befause you can't see anything else besides the legs.

Evaluate how well your compositions help the viewer to see what interested you.

I think from my composition you can see I have an interest in nautical photography.

Photo Idea Assignment week 4

Anastasia Taylor-Lind

I like this photograph because it shows the stresses females have to go through to fit in and feel good about them. The girl has about five women trying to make her look perfect, and she looks miserable.  I believe this photo describes the cliché – “beauty is pain.”

Week 3 Writing Assignment

A popular method to focus attention on the main subject of your photo is to use aperture to control depth of field. Another good way to focus attention on the main subject is by using contrast. Contrast can help define lines and make the subject clear and obvious. If you have a light solid background and your subject is bright and contrasted against the background, it will draw your eye to the subject. When you create contrast between the subject and everything else, the focus will most likely be on the object. Another way is the usage of lines, when you have a series of lines in a photograph created from different objects, your eye can follow the lines. The photographer can use this to manipulate the photo so your eye moves to the subject.

Writing Assignment week 2

1.     Did it feel uncomfortable to be photographed? If so, why?  Describe if there was a moment when the mood, your relationship or your comfort being photographed shifted?

At first I felt a little bit uncomfortable being photographed.  Normally when I get photographed, it is with other people, not just myself, so it was something I was not used to. Once we started taking a lot of pictures and I got more comfortable with my partner, I wasn’t worried as much and felt more comfortable when I was getting photographed.

2.     How can you help someone feel more comfortable when you are photographing?

To help someone feel more comfortable when you are photographing, you should try to build a friendly relationship with them, so its not as if a random stranger is photographing you. You should encourage them and acknowledge them when a photo comes out well to make them feel good about themselves and more at ease that they are doing a good job at modeling.
